NFL Picks Week 2
NFL Picks Week 2
New England Patriots 20 (-2)
New York Jets 17 (-38)
The School of Hard Knocks is now is session. After looking like a pee-wee team on offense in week 1, the Jets would love to host a cupcake who lays down on the road, but instead they get Tom Brady and the Patriots at the new Meadowlands. The Jets look solid on defense with Revis taking away one side of the field, but you need to score points to win, and with Sanchez only capable of throwing the ball 5 yards downfield or less, the Jets aren't going to win many games.
Meanwhile the Patriots come into the game fresh off a convincing week 1 win. They must be salivating looking at the Jets' offensive game film, and not often to you get to bury a division rival in week 2, but the Pats have that chance. The Jets will be 0-2 in the AFC, 0-1 in the division, and worse yet 0-2 at home after another disappointing offensive display ruins another good effort on defense. How long before the Jets become a house divided with the defense sick of the offensive woes? A loss this week to the Pats could send the first crack into the Jets foundation.
New Orleans 31 (-6)
San Francisco 10 (44)
San Francisco is another team I will refuse to back until there is a legitimate quarterback running the offense. Seriously, how many more years will Alex Smith be an unproven commodity? I believe he has proven his commoditity is the NFL equivalent of Pork Bellies, as the Niners are often belly-up after another 50% completion 2 interception performance.
New Orleans looked like the were working out some offensive kinks against a tough Vikings defense. San Francisco is supposed to have a tough defense but it is hard to get worked up about a defense that gave up 31 points to Seattle. Six is a nice number as the Saints should cruise to a 10-14 pt victory.

NFL Picks Archive
Every NFL Season starting in week 4, NFL Lines offers free statitically generated NFL Picks. Experience has shown it takes at least 3 weeks of stats to generate legitimate NFL lines.
Each Matchup has a statistically driven line, the real nfl line, and the line differential. All statistically driven lines are based on the HOME team giving or getting points. A negative line differential listed for a home team simply means the statistics favor the visiting team and the visiting team should be favored.
Home teams are given 3 points in the statistically generated lines.
***NOTE***STATISTICALLY DRIVEN LINES DO NOT CONSIDER INJURIES OR BENCHINGS***
Factor in injuries and benchings to adjust the line as you see fit.
Other factors such as: weather, off field issues, "momentum" or "bonce back" all do not factor into the statistically driven line. All statistics and metrics used in the formula are found on or derived from statistics found on NFL.com.
Example: Detroit, after getting 3 points for being the home team,
should give 1.3 points to Washington. The NFL Line is WAS -8.
Thus, DET is getting 9.3 points more then they should in this game.
Hence, Detroit is the pick. Detroit is also the best bet
The Statistical Picks Best Bet is the game with the highest line differential, be it positive or negative
